Week 8 | Final Project Team Charter

Group Members: Mary-Kathryn Wert, Ben Lorenz-Meyer, and Daniel Lugo

When discussing our final project, we reached consensus on a team charter to guide us in setting goals and improving productivity over the next couple of weeks. Our shared goals and values are to make consistent progress, show respect and strong communication with one another, and prioritize equal allocation of work amongst the group. We expect each other to uphold these goals and values as much as possible and to reach out to the rest of the group if any are not being met. We plan to communicate through our team’s group chat as we make progress and have any questions, and will use it to schedule times to meet outside of class for project work.

We plan to handle disagreements through open dialogue and by bringing up our concerns with one another. Along with this, we plan to consider ways we can reach an agreement, whether through compromise or further discussion in the case of conflict. We are dividing responsibilities based on our strengths, while offering flexibility for each other to be involved in any pieces they are interested in and want to help with. Everyone will contribute to the website design, and I plan to focus on most of the mapping portion of the project. At the same time, Daniel and Ben will lead the corpus analysis for the President’s sentiments and interviews. We also plan on creating a history page with as much relevant information as we can find. Our group sees our collective strength in data cleaning as a valuable tool, and while one of our weaknesses is our comfort level with corpus analysis, we plan to rely on each other as resources to create strong work.

  1. This is a great way to use the team component of this to your full advantage. I like how you address your weaknesses and strengths, and were able to figure out a way to come together and plan each aspect accordingly. I think that open dialogue is the best way to deal with conflict as well, as it allows everyone to equally share an opinion and for everyone to be heard.
