Very nice work on this project! I love the direction you took with your data analysis, showing the frequency of works by each medium used each year. Fellow scholars could use the information from this visualization to analyze art trends over time. The presentation is simple and clean, making it easy to understand, which aligns perfectly with your hopes for it. The pop-ups are a nice touch as well, which enhances legibility.
This is a really great display of just how much data viz can do. The original artwork data is pretty dense, and the several different art mediums along with the range of years makes for a very detailed figure. I think the one you chose does a successful job at conveying the info to the audience. By following the key at the top and all of the different matching colors, I am able to get a quick and easy sense for the mediums used in the Tate Collection.
I really like how you relay the information to us viewers. You have made it easy to navigate the data and I was able to understand very quickly what the data was saying. This is a really well-thought-out data visualization project, and you showed me some of the many capabilities that can be used to engage the viewer with the data. Well done!
Wow nice work! I love your topic of visualizing the artistic medium usage over time. The stacked bar graph was a great choice for interpreting the data. I could see and understand easily from your clean bar graph, and I think you did a great job on categorizing the medium by different colors. From your visualization, I could see the trend over time of how artists used artistic methods in a structured way.
