I think your explanation of the tradeoff between detail and file size was really clear, especially the shift from 700 images to a curated set of 80. That decision shows how 3D modeling isn’t just about accuracy but also about usability and access. It was also interesting to see how technical constraints, like upload limits and GLB size, directly shaped the final form of your project rather than just the aesthetics.
This was a really great project Eli! Its really interesting how you had to manipulate your data set to fit the processor. This makes a really interesting connection to the idea of accessibility in DH and most people, especially with a lack of funding, would probably not be able to make as detailed models as they would like. I really appreciate your comment on 3D modeling being the base of what people consider DH!
I think that the final outcome of your project definitely made all of the time-consuming trial and error worth it. Even with the issues related to file size and loading times, you were able to create a 3D model that is very easy to look at and is relatively high quality as well. I remember getting frustrated with all of the different file conversions when we did the modeling unit, and I am glad to see, although you experienced some issues during the process, that your original goal came to fruition.
