Lab Week 6

Here I took a 3D model of Hickory house. When I took images of Hickory I thought it was only half of the total building so I only pictured half of the house. Along with this because Hickory is a new building a lot of the siding looks exactly the same so Agisoft had a difficult time aligning the side of the house. However, it was able to align the front of the house which is what we are visualizing in the final product. While it was able to align the front of the house there only were only five photos that captured the entirety of the front side so it had limited data to use.

The process of trying to model a building was a very interesting process for me. It did seem very difficult at first but after working with the software for a bit I started to get more familiarized with it. I did realize one of the most important aspects to this process is taking good images so they are able to be aligned within Agisoft. After going through the process of photogrammetry I would say it does encourage close attention to detail because to get the image to look exactly how you want it, you have to go through every aspect like lighting changes, material changes, etc that might get disregarded at first. You are clearly able to see from the software which aspect of your image needs work as the final product will show something that is off or doesn’t look right, which encourages you to go back to the software and find a fix. In all I did enjoy this whole process and look forward to using it for the final project if that follows the scope of our idea.
