Final Project Team Charter

Group members: Gabe, Ezra, Ryan, Sena, Defne, Stella

Topic Name: The Tome Library: Historicizing English Department Reading Marathons

Our shared values are showing integrity, compassion, and empathy to one another, while being respectful to everyone’s opinions. We also value balance of workload and hope to create a timeless project, enhancing our digital humanities skills in the meanwhile.

We expect clear communications from each other and everyone being responsible for one’s own designated work. We already have a group chat created on WhatsApp for quick communication outside of class meetings, and we have each others’ emails and numbers as well.

If any disagreements arise throughout the project, we will address them by being calm and respectful, realizing that different opinions are a natural part of the process. We will also make sure that all voices are heard. In the worst case, we will have a meeting with Austin to resolve the conflict.

Considering everyone’s strengths, we will do our work distribution clearly at the beginning in order to hold everyone accountable for their own work and the group’s progress overall. We will consider our majors, tools we have more experience with, and our exploration interests in our division of work and stay true to it unless something exceptional happens, in which case, we will communicate on time and redistribute the workload equally in order to solve the issue.

We have distributed the expected work as so:

  • Interviews and human connections: Defne, Gabe
  • Writing up and posting group posts: Defne
  • Collecting visuals (ex: old posters, photos from events, etc): Sena
  • Digitizing books and visiting special collections: Stella, Ezra
  • Building Omeka collection: Stella, Ryan
  • Creating interactive data visualizations (Everyone)
    • Timeline about when, what, why, etc.
    • Analysis of participants
  • Designing and creating the website: Stella, Ryan
